Woman's Meal Bites At Burger Joint

A woman got more than she bargained for while eating lunch at a national burger chain Cheeseburger in Paradise in California, Md. last week.

Around 3:30 last Thursday, an unnamed woman was bit on the foot by a skunk while eating at the Jimmy Buffett-inspired restaurant, according to Casey Barile, director of marketing.

A skunk walked into the burger establishment in St. Mary's County, near the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and bit the woman, according to the South Maryland Newspapers Online. The skunk was later captured in the restaurant's parking lot and shot nearby with a .22-caliber rifle.

"This is a very random occurance because you can't really control what happens in nature," said Barile. "But animal control came quickly and was able to handle the situation."

Maryland's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene alerted the county's health department on Monday that tests performed on the animal indicated that it had rabies. The skunk is the sixth animal from the county to be confirmed as rabid this year, reported South Maryland News Net.

The woman received a medical check up and the company's insurance will pay for any medical treatment that she needs, according to Barile. The woman's condition remains unknown and we're betting her meal wasn't a cheeseburger in paradise.
