Winter Citrus Cocktails: Grapefruit
Each new year is full of promise, excitement, and resolutions. The hopes to exercise more, eat healthier, and lose weight top that list year after year. This year, there is one more resolution to add to the crop at the top and a worthy one at that — drink healthier!
Winter just so happens to be the queen season of citrus. Lemons, grapefruits, tangerines, mandarins, clementines, blood oranges, Meyer lemons, and many others all hit their prime between December and March. What does this mean to us waist-whittling devotees? A plethora of fantastic tasting, lower calorie, vitamin C-packed libations hitting the scene, making our goals just a bit easier to meet. Need even more motivation? Citrus is not only full of immunity-boosting goodness, it is also believed to heighten our metabolisms and provide extra energy for those long mornings and nights spent at the gym.
Combine these orbs of tangy deliciousness with other winter fruits and vegetables (like kiwi and celery), cut down the sugar, and enjoy a guilt-free, delectable cocktail that will have you screaming, "Round two, anyone?"
