Village Voice's 'Holiday Spirits' Coming To Long Island City
The Village Voice has outdone itself once again: The people that bring New York the acclaimed Choice Eats, Choice Streets, and Brooklyn Pour have announced the newest addition to their tasting event lineup, and it's a good one: Holiday Spirits, which will be coming to Long Island City's Studio Square on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition, the event will bring together more than 25 local distillers for the first time, including Atsby Vermouth, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Barrow's Intense Ginger Liqueur, Breuckelen Distilling, Brooklyn Gin, Catskill Distilling Company, Cooperstown Distillery, Death's Door Spirits, Dutch's Spirits, El Buho Mezcal, Greenhook Ginsmiths, Jack from Brooklyn, Long Island Spirits, Nahmias et Fils Distillery, Owney's Rum, Tirado Distillery, Tuthilltown Spirits. More will be announced soon.
And these distilleries won't just be pouring small tastings of straight liquor; in many cases their product will be incorporated into cocktails including hot buttered rum from Owney's Rum and a holiday punch made with El Buho Mezcal. Wineries will also be involved.
Admission to the event will cost $50 (or $70 if you purchase VIP tickets, which grants you an extra hour from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and a goodie bag), and that will get you three hours (from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) of drinking, complimentary hors d'oeuvres, a souvenir glass, and musical entertainment.
Tickets can be purchased here.
