Nearly a million people attend South 's lively parade yearly to see the vibrant floats, listen to Irish and American bands, and come together in green with all the other attendees to let loose and have a great time. The city's Irish pubs will be serving green beer, and there are countless bar crawls and events that will be discounted for the holiday weekend, like the St. Paddy's Pub Crawl of Boston's Best Bars at Hard Rock Cafe for $5. You'll find some of the best Irish food in Boston at pubs such as Kinsale and The Black Rose.

Buenos Aires

If you're in Buenos Aires for St. Paddy's Day this year, head over to any of the city's Irish pubs for a great time drinking and eating. Home to the largest Irish community in South America, Argentina is one of the best places to be during the popular day of celebration. This year, the city's parade will take place on Saturday, March 18, but you'll definitely want to hit the bars near Plaza San Martín all weekend for some green beers, all-night partying, and plenty of dancing in the streets.

Chicago

Any city that dyes its river green for St. Patrick's Day is obviously a city that knows how to go all out for a celebration. Although the Chicago River was dyed green last weekend after the parade (which always takes place the weekend before St. Patrick's Day in Chicago) the partying will continue through March 17. There are bar crawls scheduled for Friday throughout the city, and all-day drinking specials at various bars, like Bar Louie's four-hour all-you-can-drink package for $30.

Dublin

National pride runs high in Dublin for its official four-day festival. Traditional and contemporary entertainment can be found on nearly every corner and pubs are packed from morning into the wee hours of the night. Wear a crazy costume and face paint to the Festival Parade, then spend your day bar crawling through well-known local pubs, such as the Temple Bar and the Palace. Edinburgh

As neighbors to Ireland, the Irish community in Scotland celebrates St. Patrick's Day in a big way. The week-long festival in Edinburgh includes Irish dancing, listening to authentic Irish song and poetry, and of course having a pint at a local Irish pub such as Malones.

London

London celebrates St. Patrick's Day for three days from the 17th through the 19th, with the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Trafalgar Square Festival ending the festivities in Central London on Sunday. On Saturday, 40FT Brewery will be hosting an event called "40 Shades of Green," where you'll be able to taste some of the best Irish food by chefs Robin William Gill and Patrick Powell while listening to Irish DJs and enjoying cocktails made by top Irish bartenders.

New York

Over two million people come together in New York City for one of the world's largest St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Starting at 11 a.m. on March 17 is the St. Patrick's Day parade along Fifth Avenue that begins at 44th street and passes Central Park and St. Patrick's Cathedral (fitting). If you're looking to get even rowdier, join in on a three-day bar crawl through the East Village that'll start at 12 a.m. on Thursday.

Savannah, Georgia

Savannah's largest festival of the year, the St. Patrick's Day Parade, will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, March 17. For the celebration, the city approved 36 blocks of outdoor drinking, so you can sip on a green beer, watch the parade, and listen to live music play. If you're in Savannah, you won't want to miss this incredible block party in the historic downtown area.

St. Croix, Virgin Islands

The Crucians are known for finding any reason to celebrate, so it's only natural that they celebrate St. Patrick's Day to the fullest. Herds of people decked out in green attire will head to the streets of Christiansted on Saturday to see the St. Patrick's Day parade. After the parade, they'll make their way to King Street to continuing partying at the local bars.
