This Island Lets Tourists Adopt A Dog For A Day
What could be better than a tropical Hawaiian vacation where you soak up some rays, enjoy toasty temperatures, and splash around the ocean?
How about doing all of this with an adorable dog?
This fantasy can become a reality thanks to the Kauai Humane Society, which allows loving travelers (and locals!) to adopt a dog for the day. The temporary guardians can bring their new furry foster kids to the beach, on hikes, or even to visit nursing homes, schools, and libraries in order to spread the love even further. And all this comes at no cost to the adopter.
Denmark is currently trying to attract tourists by boasting bars with dogs.
The KHS realizes the value of human interaction and affection, as well as the exercise and stimuli the dogs will experience and enjoy on their adventures, and thus are more than willing to lend the dogs to caring candidates. If you fall in love with your new friend, you can also offer them a forever home — with KHS ready and willing to assist with the travel arrangements.
Even if you don't choose to take them home with you, the dogs all sport snazzy "adopt me" outfits to alert others that your pooch pal is looking for a home. The Kauai Humane Society also encourages these foster parents to upload photos of the dogs to social media in hopes of increasing their adoption chances.
Even if the dogs end up right back with the KHS, they'll at least be happy to have had fun with a new friend for the day... not to mention the fun you'll have had playing with them.
