Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit's First Health Food Retreat

The Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit luxury beach resort near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is cooking up its first annual multigenerational Wellness Week, which will run Oct. 24-30. The gourmet health food retreat will headline top Mexican chefs, vegan menus, culinary workshops, fitness activities, and spa offerings at the award-winning property.

Prominent Mexican vegan and raw food chef Miguel Bautista (co-founder of the local Vegan Planet restaurant) and vegan author Ellen Kanner ("What to Eat for Dinner," VegNews' 2013 Book of the Year) will lead cooking and juicing classes, Vegan tastings, and even a workshop on plant-based food and sensuality.

Fitness activities feature yoga led by the director of Mexico's Yoga Institute, Pilates, meditation, and CrossFit. The spa will offer multigenerational treatments, with specific services for men, women, mature adults, teens, children, and even babies. The resort's five restaurants — including its three AAA Four-Diamond restaurants (serving French, Italian, and Mexican gourmet cuisine) — will add special vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian dishes to their menus.

To be fully immersed in a pampered wellness retreat, resort guests can book one of the new 1,750-square-foot Wellness Suites. A personal Wellness Concierge provides counseling on spa treatments and in-suite fitness amenities, including a yoga mat, dumbbells, resistance bands, and a Life Fitness Activate Series Recumbent Lifecycle Exercise Bike. An in-suite massage and personal training session are included in package, as is an Alchimia Apothecary Aromatherapy Kit, a shower Vitamin C Sprinkler that spritzes guests with a warm bath of vitamin C essential oils, and other amenities.

Wellness Suite rates are $384 per person, per night, based on double occupancy. Wellness Week resort rates start at $309 per person per night, based on double occupancy. The Grand Velas' all-inclusive rates include luxury accommodations, à la carte gourmet meals at a variety of specialty restaurants, premium branded beverages, 24-hour in-suite service, taxes, gratuity, and more.
