Afternoon Tea And Pet Pampering At The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park
We recently spend a luxurious weekend at the 5-star Ritz-Carlton Central Park at the invitation of the hotel, and (among other things), we were particularly impressed by the pet-friendly amenities, the afternoon tea service, and a unique Japanese breakfast in bed.
The Ritz-Carlton is, of course, one of the world's most well-known luxury brands in travel and hospitality. As New Yorkers, we have the pleasure of having two properties to choose from: The Ritz-Carlton Battery Park, and The Ritz-Carlton Central Park. In this review, we dive into a staycation at the latter.
Afternoon Tea Service
We began our visit with reservations for afternoon tea in the Star Lounge, a highlight of our stay. The Ritz is well known for its afternoon tea service, which included an impressive selection of teas curated by their own "tea sommelier," sumptuous sandwiches sourced from local and regional ingredients, and a medley of delightful desserts. And like all great tea services, they were delicate and adorable finger sized bites! In addition to perfect cups of tea, our service was complimented with Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label. The Champagne Afternoon Tea costs around $89 per person, and is held daily from 2 to 4 pm.
Pamper Your Pooch
As New Yorkers, we love to pamper our furry four legged friends. Knowing this, The Ritz-Carlton also offers a very swanky experience for your dogs! Make sure to call ahead of time and notify thehotel that you plan on bringing your little one (I brought my little poodle mix Ashton Martin Lee Hue). If your dog meets the appropriate specifications The Ritz will roll out the Paw Printed Red Carpet.
Dog amenities included:
- A personalized welcome card (for your dog, not you)
- A Ritz-Carlton-branded doggie bed
- Fancy Ritz-Carlton-branded food and water bowls
- Ritz-Carlton-branded liver flavored treats
- Ritz-Carlton-branded bottled water (for the dog)
- Doggie room service (Ashton ordered the chicken & rice)
The Ritz-Carlton is located directly across the street form Central Park, so while you're there you can take your pooch for a stroll in the park!
A Japanese Breakfast
A definite must-try for the luxe staycationer is the Ritz's in-room Japanese breakfast. Served in a bento box, this breakfast includes miso soup, seared salmon and caviar, steamed rice and pickled vegetables, a Japanese omelet, and green tea.
