Top EDM Bars Or Clubs In Philadelphia
Philadelphia doesn't have beautiful white sand beaches that are featured on the Travel Channel, or a baseball team that wins the World Series once a decade. Luckily, what the City of Brotherly Love does have are some of the top venues in the nation spotlighting electronic dance music. Fans of this cultural phenomenon can say good riddance to basements and parking lots, because Philly's EDM scene is alive and kicking. From trance and trap to house and hip hop, here are the top EDM bars and clubs in Philadelphia.
Lit Ultrabar
460 N. 2nd St.
Philadelphia, PA 19123
(215) 600-3601

Lit is arguably the best bar in Philly. You have to dress to impress, however, to get in the door. Its state-of-the-art sound system is ultra loud, and its LED light show features fog and strobes. When talented DJs like SRG, Tekenartist and Menace Cartel are booked, the place is packed and pumping until 4 a.m.
Rumor
1500 Sansom St.
Philadelphia, PA 19102
(215) 988-0777

Rumor has two – yes, two – dance floors, a VIP area and multiple bars. Known as a solid club with exceptional lighting and sound systems, Rumor recently stepped up its game by bringing in top drawer, nationally recognized DJs. Resident spinners include Giuliano Presta, a DJ focusing on house, progressive, tech and trance, and John G, who takes fans on an adventure of energetic progressive, tech-house and electro genres. Oh, and let's not forget Elvis Suarez. His seamless sound is rooted in house and trap.
SoundGarden Hall
520 N. Columbus Blvd.
Philadelphia, PA 19123
(847) 268-8331
www.soundgardenhall.com
This club/venue hybrid has some of the tightest lineups in the city. It's not unusual when double and triple headliners appear on the same bill. To give you an idea, just recently, Tropkillaz and Lookas connected here with their heavy trap vibe. The sound system is loud but won't blow out your eardrums, and the fog and lights add volumes to the kicking ambiance.
Voyeur Nightclub
1221 St. James St.
Philadelphia, PA 19107
(215) 735-5772
www.voyeurnightclub.com
Voyeur, formerly Pure, is an after-hours club that rocks the night away until 3:30 a.m. The three-level dance floor usually doesn't start to pick up until 2 a.m., closing time for other bars in the Gayborhood. Techno and house often blasts from the sound system, with guys, and a few girls, bumping and grinding to the beat. Along with the main floor dance area, a basement bar, a wraparound mezzanine and an upper level VIP room keep this place hopping.
Whisper
1712 Walnut St.
Philadelphia, PA 19103
(215) 735-6700
www.whisperclub.com
Whisper bills itself as "Philadelphia's premier venue for upscale nightlife," and the swanky private nightclub lives up to that. Open until 3 a.m. from Thursday through Saturday, this EDM entertainment destination boasts six bars, three VIP areas, a huge dance floor, a light show and bottle service. You'll hear some awesome trance, house and electronic sounds here. Heavy hitter Paul Oakenfold and Italian superstar Giuseppe Ottaviani have made Whisper's DJ scene recently.
