Tom Hanks Sent An Espresso Machine To The White House Press Corps
The journalists covering the Trump administration were very pleased recently to discover they'd been given a swanky new espresso machine and a big supply of Illy espresso pods from actor Tom Hanks with a note of thanks and support.
Hanks sent the machine and the coffee to the designated press room along with a typewritten note, because Hanks is apparently a big fan of typewriters.
"Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way," the note read. "Especially for the Truth part."
According to Good Morning America, Hanks has actually been sending coffee machines to the White House press corps since 2004, when he says he toured the building and was surprised to see that the journalists just had an old Mr. Coffee.
He also sent another machine in 2010, when Barack Obama was president.
"I've done that for Democrats and Republican administrations because those poor bastards need coffee," Hanks explained on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
ABC News correspondent Karen Travers posted a photo of the new machine to Twitter and thanked Hanks for the upgrade and said they'd certainly appreciated the other machines, too.
