Summit Brewing Company's Newest Beer
It's the first organic beer to be brewed in Minnesota: Summit Brewing Company recently announced its newest beer in the lineup, the 100 Percent Organic Ale, that has everyone buzzing.
Most beers are about 99 percent organic, said head brewer Gabe Smoley is a press release; this beer is 100 percent thanks to the team's tireless effort to truly go organic. "This beer is made with 100% organic ingredients including malts, hops and yeast. Summit microbiologist James Fetherston and I worked together to create our own certified organic yeast strain to do this, as there are virtually no organic strains available from laboratories."
The Organic Ale is definitely a springtime beer. Part of the Unchained Series, the Organic Ale has "floral aromas of perfume, rose and potpourri. The malt backbone is mild but balanced, with the distinguishing characteristic of Organic Ale being its hop aroma and flavor as the beer is heavily hopped towards the end of production." Other new beers on tap for Summit? The Meridian Session Ale and the Hops Like a Kangaroo IPA (exclusively for the Highland Grill).
