Why You Need To Be Baking Lasagna In A Glass Pan, Not Metal
By Heather Newman
If you're putting the time in to make a lasagna from scratch, you’ll want it to be the best it can be, and your baking dish has a lot to do with that. Deciding on the right pan is the foundation of a delicious lasagna, and choosing the wrong one could spell disaster.
Metal baking dishes aren’t the best choice for lasagna, as they are mainly made of aluminum which can react with acidic ingredients, like tomato sauce, which can cause a bitter taste. The aluminum in the pan can also leech into your pasta, leaving it gray and discolored.
The best baking pan for lasagna is a glass baking pan, as it retains heat longer and won’t cause a bitter taste or discoloration. Glass is also naturally more non-stick than aluminum, so when you're done enjoying the delicious lasagna, cleanup won’t be a challenge.
