What's The Distinction Between A Jacket Potato And A Baked Potato?
By Arianna Endicott
Although baked potatoes and jacket potatoes may seem similar, baked potatoes are a little simpler to make, and jacket potatoes have crispier skin and an ultra-fluffy interior.
The standard baked potato requires washing them, pricking them with a fork, spreading some oil over their surface, and cooking them in your oven for about an hour.
You can also cook them in your slow cooker if you don't mind waiting a little longer. Once they're done and cooled down, they're ready to eat right out of the skin.
On the other hand, jacket potatoes require you to cut an "X" shape sliced across the top lengthwise before baking them in the oven.
After they're cooked, take them out and reopen the top of the potatoes with a knife. Then, pop them in the oven for another 15 minutes, and they’ll be ready.
Regardless of which you prefer, you can top them with a variety of the same ingredients, including salt, pepper, butter, cheese, bacon, or Southwest chili.
