The Unfortunate Reason Altoids Sours Were Halted

Altoids Sours was launched in 2004 as a spin-off of Altoids Mints, but even though it quickly cemented its place in the candy pantheon, it was sadly discontinued.

Over time, sales began to slow, despite efforts by the makers of Altoids to rebrand and refresh the product, and by 2010, the writing was on the wall.

A Mars representative told Bustle, "They were discontinued due to low national demand." Fans still tried to save the beloved candy through petitions and social media campaigns.

The fruity sour treats were so popular that one Change.org petition calling for the brand to bring back Altoids Tangerine Sours has received over 17,000 signatures.

According to the Mars representative who spoke with Bustle, there's still a chance to bring back the iconic candy by reaching out to the company.

An Instagram post also indicates that the effort even has the support of Altoids itself, but only time will tell if there is enough demand to bring Altoid Sours back to life.
