The Starburst Spin-Off Candy That Was Sadly Discontinued

Newsweek reports that Starburst once came in a hard candy version. Though there is little information on their origin, they were discontinued in the 2000s.
Mars never gave an official statement on the discontinuation of Starburst hard candies, leaving the cause open to interpretation. It’s possible they just didn’t sell as expected.
Hard candy is also known for having a “mature” reputation, according to social media, and is most often associated with the elderly. This could have caused it to be overlooked.
It’s also possible that Starburst hard candies just couldn’t compete with more popular hard candies like Jolly Ranchers, which remain the gold standard.
