The Grocery Bag Hack To Keep Your Herbs Fresh For Much Longer
By Grace Allison
Delicate herb varieties can deteriorate in your fridge or on your counter within a day of purchase, so to keep your herbs fresher for longer, try using a plastic bag.
Rinse your herbs clean, then gently dry them and trim their stems. Place them stem-side down into a cup or glass with water, keeping the leaves above water.
The herbs should be able to stand up in the cup. Then, place a clean grocery bag over the top of the herbs and secure it to the glass with a piece of string.
To save refrigerator space, you can store herbs like rosemary, thyme, chives, and oregano by loosely wrapping them in damp paper towels and keeping them in an airtight container.
It's best to use fresh herbs as soon as possible for the best flavor and color. If you can't use them, simply dry them or freeze them in an ice cube tray for later use.
