The Flavorful Hack That Utilizes Your Empty Egg Carton

Instead of tossing your empty egg carton, pour leftover bacon grease into its pods and store for later use, making some flavor bombs that take your recipes to the next level.

Simply pour the bacon grease into the carton once it’s cooled, freeze it until it’s solid, break the pods apart, and store them in an airtight container.

You can then store them in the refrigerator, where they will stay good for about six months, or put them back in the freezer, where they can last pretty much indefinitely.

Egg cartons are better storage options than plastic bowls, which can warp or stain from the grease. Throw the carton away after use to avoid cross-contamination.

Only use foam or plastic egg cartons for freezing grease, as they’re more durable and won’t be susceptible to a potential leak as a cardboard egg carton would.

If your grease doesn’t slide right out when you’re ready to use it, then let it thaw for a few minutes so it can be removed in a perfectly measured portion.
