The Corn Shucking Hack That Makes Removing The Silk Easy
By Betsy Parks
Pulling the husks off of corn isn't so hard, but it can be a pain to get all the silk strands off of the cob if you're picking them away one by one. Luckily, there's an easier way.
Use a stiff-bristle vegetable brush or a clean toothbrush to remove the cornsilk from an ear of corn. These tools allow you to easily remove the silk without damaging any kernels.
Simply sweep the corn around on all sides with the stiff-bristle brush. It'll grab all the silk strands in under 30 seconds, saving you time if you have a lot of corn to shuck.
You don't need to press down hard — even a fairly stiff brush should keep the kernels intact. Many types of brushes are available online and in-store for $5 to $10.
