Scandinavian Swimmers Is Trader Joe's Elevated Twist On Swedish Fish
By Christine Barba
Since their introduction by Malaco in the 1950s, Swedish Fish have become a beloved candy in the U.S., and Trader Joe's has their version of the candy called Scandinavian Swimmers.
While both are vegan and gluten-free, Scandinavian Swimmers are kosher-certified and offer a variety of flavors and sea creature shapes, unlike Swedish Fish.
Traditional Swedish Fish are red, fish-shaped gummies flavored of lingonberries. They also come in yellow (lemon), green (lime), purple (grape), and orange-flavored varieties.
TD’s Scandinavian Swimmers include a mix of sea animals and flavors like huckleberry blue dolphins, berry red lobsters, orange flavored rockfish, and yellow mango-peach seahorses.
Trader Joe’s suggests that Scandinavian Swimmers are ideal for a backpack-appropriate snack to take on a hike, your desk drawer, or an afternoon nosh.
The store offers both regular and super sour versions, which are also vegan, gluten-free, and kosher. A six-piece serving is around 100 calories and a single bag costs $3.49.
