While Popeyes is known for its fried chicken offerings, most people would be surprised that Popeyes offers fried gizzards at select locations.

Considering fried gizzards are a popular Southern staple, you might assume that the select locations that had them would be in the South, but that's not the case.

At least three Popeyes restaurants in Kansas have them on the menu, one being in Olathe, Kansas. A location in Honolulu, Hawaii, is said to have them as well.

It's possible that Popeyes decided against having fried gizzards at all of its locations because it wouldn't have been profitable, and only some franchises decided to sell them.

Until 2021, Popeyes had Cajun rice on the menu. Popeyes, as it turns out, made its Cajun rice the traditional way, with gizzards as a main ingredient.

As a Popeyes worker revealed on TikTok, these gizzards came chopped up and bagged. They were only added to the rice, not deep fried.

Popeyes offered gizzards in 2022, when Cajun rice was temporarily brought back, but currently, it doesn't seem like gizzards of any form will become a standard menu item.
