Michelin Called Marcus Samuelsson's Ice Cream The 'Best In Miami'
By Carly Weaver
You may know chef Marcus Samuelsson from the many TV shows he's hosted, books he's written, or restaurants he's owned, including Red Rooster. While the Bib Gourmand-awarded restaurant Red Rooster Overtown's doors opened in Miami in late 2020, it now enjoys a new claim to fame, as Michelin recently raved, "It has some of the best ice cream in the Magic City."
Red Rooster Overtown experienced construction delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so Samuelsson opened up The Creamery as a small grab-and-go shop where people could get takeout or delivery. Samuelsson said, "Ice cream for me is about a wink and a smile and having fun, and that is what the creamery is all about."
The Creamery now operates as a full ice cream shop next to the main restaurant and is known for its interesting and delicious offerings, like Marcus' Cornbread, Plantain Foster, and Red Velvet Oreo. Open Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., customers can order ice cream, decadent waffle sundaes, or sweet treats like Brooklyn Blackout Cake and Peach Bourbon Pie.
