Completely Transform Standard Whipped Cream With Canned Pumpkin Puree
By Laura Zbinden
Pumpkin purée whipped cream is great with desserts like ice cream, brownies, or pumpkin cakes and pies and can be the perfect topping for a pumpkin spice-flavored cup of coffee.
It only takes about 10 minutes to prepare your homemade pumpkin cream. Start by whipping up your favorite vanilla whipped cream recipe until you achieve stiff peaks.
Use a 3 to 1 ratio of heavy cream to pumpkin purée or a 2 to 1 ratio if you want a stronger flavor. Gently fold the purée and a pumpkin spice mixture into your cream.
Before adding the purée and spices to your cream, you can also roast them in the oven for a few minutes to bring out their aromatic warmth. Allow the mixture to cool before mixing.
Store-bought pumpkin spice is convenient, but making your own spice blend gives you control of the flavors and levels of warmth and sweetness to find the perfect combination.
