Hugh Acheson, already a winner on Friday night for his book A New Turn in the South, relished his win for Best Chef Southeast after being nominated six times. He tied for the award with Atlanta chef Linton Hopkins, and Acheson remarked that he was excited to see new nominees next year.
Christina Tosi, the first pastry chef to win Rising Star Chef of the Year, was still overwhelmed when we spoke to her, and commented, "I feel speechless".
Paul Qui, a winner for Best Chef Southwest and this year's victor on season eight of Top Chef said, "[I am] super excited. I don't even know how to express myself," and also remarking that "It's been a great year.
And Daniel Humm, who took home one of the night's biggest honors for Outstanding Chef, said he "feels fantastic because it's an award that is voted by your peers, by your friends, by your colleagues."
