Shake Shack Raises Over $285K For No Kid Hungry
When D.C.'s third location on F Street opened last week, patrons enjoyed complimentary burgers, hotdogs, beer, wine, milkshakes, and desserts. It wasn't free just to celebrate the opening, but to celebrate a successful fundraising campaign.
Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti presented the $285,862 check to Share Our Strength President Thomas C. Nelson while the new location's first diners enjoyed free Shake Shack.
The second-annual fundraiser, lasting the month of May, benefitted D.C.-based Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign. Guests who donated $2 or more at any Shake Shack (with the exception of ballparks and international locations) received a complimentary milkshake on their next visit.
The highest donations accumulated at the Upper East Side location with $45,905, narrowly beating the Theater District location. The Westport, Conn. Shack earned the highest dollar amount raised per guest for the second year in a row.
