A Security Guard Used Pepper Spray To End A Food Fight

For some odd reason, a middle school security guard decided that pepper spray was aboslutely necessary to end a food fight. A total of 37 students complained of pain and other symptoms afterwards.

According to school policy, security guards must warn students before using pepper spray, and it's only used as a last resort. Also strange: The PTA president approves.

"There was nothing else the security guard could have done — chairs and everything were being thrown," she said to the Virginian-Pilot. "The security guard is in there by herself, trying to keep order and these kids — I hate to say it — they don't have any home training, they don't respect anybody."
