For A Near-Perfect Steak, Head To Austin's Steiner Ranch Steakhouse
We're all on the hunt for it, that one perfect bite of steak. For some it must melt like butter, others like it smoky, or perfectly spiced. Well after 39 years, I believe I've finally achieved it, steak nirvana, the perfect combination of all three components (for myself at least).
Let's back up a little bit first and talk about where I found this treasure. A fairly well known steakhouse here in Austin called Steiner Ranch Steakhouse is where this beauty resides. It was a Sunday afternoon, the weather was mild and so I googled, "Austin steakhouse with a view," and came across this place. A nice little drive out by Lake Travis, the view and atmosphere alone is worth it. We were seated on the patio where it even had to "make a place for us" as it was technically booked, and boy, am I glad.
We listened to pleasant live music by duet Leigh Rowan and Jimmy playing country, soul, and some love songs throughout our dinner. We enjoyed the music tremendously. The view of the lake, the light breeze, and the attentive waitress made for a wonderful evening.
Impressed by the extensive wine list, my wife ordered a Chardonnay and I a Merlot, both of which were delicious. But the whole night crescendoed shortly after I was brought my order, the "22 oz Cowboy Ribeye". Slathered in melted butter, I just knew good things were to come. The steak knife slid through the perfect medium rare cut. Here it comes, THAT FIRST BITE, OH THAT FIRST BITE!! Easily one of the top 3 steaks of my life! Immediately, my wife looked at me and stated, "Looks like we found your new steak place."
The rest of the menu was great as well, my wife really liked the ranch hand salad with grilled chicken. The bread pudding À la mode was fantastic ― not too sweet. We sat and enjoyed the evening for a couple of hours. No rushing by the staff. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a quality meal (in my case, steak for me), with a fantastic view here in the Austin area. If you see me there, stop by and say "hi"!
