Ingredients
  • a loaf of high-quality white bread that has not been sliced
  • a stick of salted butter, softened
Directions
  1. Slice the loaf into 3/4-inch slices.
  2. Liberally butter the slices on both sides.
  3. Heat a griddle to medium-high heat and toast the slices about 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Serve with chicken-fried steak, fried chicken or any smothered gravy dish.
