Red Lantern Beef Shortribs

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 10 pound beef short rib
  • 1 cup thick soy sauce
  • 1 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cup cooking sherry
  • 10 each star anise
  • 4 cup chicken stock
  • 1/3 cup ginger, minced
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Season short ribs with salt. Heat a heavy bottom pot and add vegetable oil. Sear short ribs on all sides until golden brown.
  3. Meanwhile, heat braising liquid to a simmer. Transfer short ribs to a casserole dish, cover with hot braising liquid, cover casserole, and cook in the oven for 1 1/2-2 hours, until short ribs are fall off the bone tender. Garnish with a few pods of star anise.
