The house margarita at this beachfront all-inclusive is a hand-crafted gem that blends two uncommon agave spirits harvested and distilled outside of tequila’s Jalisco domain.

Ingredients
  • 1 ounce silver bacanora (an agave-derived liquor made in the mexican state of sonora)
  • 1 ounce reposado sotol (a spirit made from wild-harvested agave plants found in the chihuahua region)
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (such as cointreau or grand marnier)
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • kosher salt with chamoy (pickled apricot or plum syrup)
  • dried chilhuacle chile
Directions
  1. Prepare a stemmed cocktail glass by chilling it, then hold it upside down to briefly smoke the interior with a lit chilhuacle chile.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the two agave spirits, orange liqueur, lime and lemon juice, and ice.
  3. Shake, then strain into the glass.
  4. For a slighter sweeter version, add agave syrup before shaking.
