Pregnant Kate Middleton Craves Vegetarian Curry
Kate Middleton's biggest pregnancy craving has allegedly been vegetarian curry, prepared at a local convenience store near her parents' home in Bucklebury.
During her pregnancy, the Duchess of Cambridge has often stopped for curries at the convenience store, Peach's Spar. When she is visiting her parents in Bucklebury, she "pops in two or three times a week," according to the shop owners, Chan Shingadia and her husband Hash, in The Telegraph.
Us Weekly confirmed that the dish is not something sold in the store; Shingadia prepares it especially for the Duchess. Middleton reportedly "smelled something delicious" several years ago when visiting the store, and Shingadia — who was cooking the curry upstairs — and her husband offered to give her some to take home.
Shingadia told Us Weekly that the dish is very mild, and is made with black lentils, potatoes, spinach, peas, and cauliflower, and that Middleton recently "took away [the dish] with some rice and naan bread."
Middleton — whose due date was yesterday, July 11 — has long been friends with the shopkeepers, and invited them to the royal wedding in 2011. "We've really got to know Kate," Shingadia told The Telegraph. "She is really caring. She is like a human being, not a celebrity, and she is always a good customer. William is very down to earth."
