P. Terry's, As Local As They Come, Grows To Seven Locations
Say you're in Austin and you want a burger, and you decide to choose between Five Guys and P. Terry's. There is one correct choice: go to P. Terry's, if for no other reason than you can't get it anywhere but Austin.
And now there's another reason to patronize the local standby: there will soon be seven (count 'em) P. Terry's Burger Stands in the Austin area, according to Austin360.com. The newest one at 12301 N. MoPac Blvd. is slated to open by the end of June, and will be the biggest "stand" so far, with two (count 'em) drive-thru lanes.
P. Terry's only exists in the Austin area, and is well known as a popular local favorite, as Austinite as its owner and namesake Patrick Terry. The small chain describes itself as "Anti-Fast Food," pronouncing an emphasis on quality food preparation and care of employees and customers. They've done that well, if the restaurant's success is any indication.
By the end of 2015, one dozen P. Terry's locations are planned, all in the Austin area. There's even an eighth scheduled to be built by December of this year. And yet, true to the spirit of this local institution, Terry has so far indicated zero intention to expand the franchise outside of Austin. Looks like McDonald's will have to do everywhere else.
