Nicki Minaj Launches Moscato Line
Drew Barrymore may be getting some competition in the celebrity-wine business; Forbes reports that Nicki Minaj has partnered up with Myx Fusions Moscato.
The wine, served in single-serving blue bottles, has since been featured in Ciara's "I'm Out" song, where Minaj raps, "If I'm sippin' in the club, Myx Moscato," also popping up in Minaj's 'High School" and "Up in Flames" music video.
Minaj isn't the first hip-hop artist to delve into the booze world; as Forbes notes, Jay-Z, Diddy, and Ludacris have all had partnerships with alcohol brands. Jay-Z has partnered with Champagne Cattier, Diddy is all about Cîroc vodka , while Luda co-owns Conjure Cognacs. Lil' Kim worked with Three Olives Vodka in 2006; Lil Jon even tried his hand at owning a winery, Little Jonathan winery.
In any case, they're hoping the Myx Moscato line will get to be less stuffy with Minaj as it's face. "Wine is a very stuffy business to begin with," Mona Scott-Young, the brand's CMO, told Forbes. And while we would've slated Minaj to be a tequila girl (or maybe a whiskey girl), moscato has had some play in the hip-hop world before. Last year, New York Magazine reported that Drake, Soulja Boy, and Gucci Mane were all moscato fans, while rapper Nelly had his own brand of the fruity wine: Freaky Moscato.
