Papa John's Is Now Serving A Fritos Chili Pie
Just when you thought pizza chain creations couldn't get any wackier (and had just gotten over Pizza Hut's dessert-stuffed pie), Papa John's is now selling a Fritos chili pizza. For those of you not from the South or California, a traditional Frito pie involves ripping open a bag of Fritos chips, and covering it with chili and cheese. The Papa John's version is a mash-up between the regional favorite snack and a pizza.
"It seemed like a no-brainer to collaborate with our beverage partner, PepsiCo, to bring its popular Fritos corn chips snack to our pizza and combine these traditional tailgating fall favorites — chili, cheese and added crunch — with Papa John's signature fresh-dough crust," Bob Kraut, Papa John's chief marketing officer, said in a press release.
This limited-edition pie is available for $12 from now through November 23, and the toppings include a layer of the obligatory Fritos chips, as well as beef, chili, tomatoes, onions, mozzarella, and Cheddar cheese. The result is something that looks like a pizza-casserole-chip dip hybrid.
