Kickstarter Dedicated The Perfect New York City Egg Sandwich
Joseph Checkler of New York City is on a really specific mission: to teach the deli- and bodega-owners of Midtown Manhattan how to make the perfect egg sandwich.
In particular, he means the ubiquitous breakfast sandwich found in every corner deli in the entire city, which comes with eggs, American cheese, and your choice of bacon or sausage.
Checkler hopes that by distributing instructional pamphlets to all Midtown-based makers of the egg sandwich, he'll turn the sides of egg sandwich wrongdoing.
Already, Checkler's humble goal of $315 ("for printing and mailing costs, as well as for my time researching every corner of Midtown Manhattan to find out who needs this breakfast-saving leaflet") has been surpassed— at the time of reporting, the Egg Sandwich Kickstarter has $515 in funding, which will go toward asking deli owners to heed instructions like: "Flip the egg, immediately add two slices of cheese that cover the whole egg. If you need to add a third slice, DO IT" and, "Sell to customers for anywhere between $2 and $5.95."
If you believe that your Midtown Manhattan-based egg sandwich needs to be saved, you can still donate to the Kickstarter. For those of you living elsewhere in New York City, Checkler promises that if all goes well, he does plan to extend his outreach network.
