James Beard Media Award Winners Announced
Before the best chefs and restaurants across the nation are honored, the best of the culinary media are recognized during the James Beard Book, Broadcast, and Journalism Awards. The awards took place Friday May 2nd and honored the best of the best in culinary television, in cookbooks and food media coverage on air, online, and in magazines.
This year's big winners were Historic Heston, an aesthetically beautiful record of British cooking history by Heston Blumenthal for Cookbook of the Year, Ina Garten (aka Barefoot Contessa) for Outstanding TV Personality, The Mind of a Chef with Anthony Bourdain won Best Television Program on Location, Martha Stewart's Cooking School for Best Television Program In Studio, Alan Richman for the Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review Award, Andy Ricker from Saveur for Best Cooking, Recipes or Instruction, and Civil Eats for Publication of the Year.
The James Beard Chef and Restaurant Awards: Sounds of the City will take place tonight, May 5th at Lincoln Center.
