'Friends' Central Perk Cafe Is Becoming A Real Pop-Up Shop
After 10 years off the air (wow, we feel old), Friends is returning in the form of a month-long pop-up recreation of Central Perk Café, the gang's hangout in the decade-long sitcom. You heard that right. Central Perk Café, in collaboration with Warner Bros., will be opening on September 17 in downtown Manhattan, and will entertain coffee lovers and nostalgic fans alike with trivia games, live performances of Phoebe's greatest hits like "Smelly Cat," and guest appearances by James Michael Tyler, who played Gunther, the golden-haired barista on the show.
The shop will be popping up at 199 Lafayette Street, according to Entertainment Weekly, and will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. Fans can expect lots of merchandise giveaways and contests, plus Eight O'Clock Coffee (who will be providing the caffeinated beverages), will also be releasing a limited-edition Friends blend in-store.
Did we mention that the coffee is free? Excuse us while we return to the office, arms-full, saying, "Could I be carrying any more coffee?"
