Bob Evans Restaurants Introduce Candied Bacon
Bob Evans Restaurants has introduced a new menu item that will make you fall in love with bacon all over again: candied bacon. The "sweet, smoky" bacon is available at all Bob Evans Restaurants locations for a limited time. Additionally, customers who visit a restaurant and purchase a regular-priced entrée on Sept. 14 will be served a complimentary slice. We had the opportunity to try the candied bacon here at The Daily Meal and trust us, you're going to want to take advantage of this offer.
For those of you who can't make it out to a Bob Evans, the recipe has also been released. Spoiler: The restaurant version includes an undisclosed secret ingredient, so you'll still have to visit a Bob Evans location to try the real thing.
Bob Evans Candied Bacon
Ingredients
1 16-ounce package thick-sliced bacon, preferably Bob Evans Thick Sliced Hickory Smoked Bacon
1⁄2 cup of light brown sugar
Directions
Begin by lining 2 baking sheets with parchment paper to ensure the bacon does not stick to the pan. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Measure brown sugar into a shallow-sided dish. Place a slice of bacon on the brown sugar, patting to help the brown sugar stick to the bacon slice and coating evenly on both sides. Place on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining slices of bacon.
Place on center rack of the oven. Bake for 20 minutes. Check bacon every 5 minutes until golden brown and fairly crispy.
Drain bacon grease. Immediately remove bacon from baking sheet and place on a cooling rack. Do not let the bacon cool completely on the baking sheet; it can be very difficult to remove. Tip: Place parchment paper underneath the cooling rack to avoid messy cleanup.
Eat and enjoy alone or with friends!
