April Bloomfield And Ken Friedman Announce Café And Wine Bar
April Bloomfield and business partner Ken Friedman, the team behind The Spotted Pig, The Breslin, The John Dory, and Salvation Taco, have confirmed plans to open a new "café/sandwich shop/wine bar" on Avenue A in New York City.
Friedman told Bedford and Bowery that the new restaurant will likely take the place of the former San Loco restaurant and will take advantage of the space's 4 a.m. liquor license. However, a representative for the team noted that an exact location for the new eatery has yet to be confirmed.
"We can experiment with all the ideas we've been thinking about in the East Village," said Friedman. "Homemade pastries in the morning and great coffee, and April's always wanted to open a sandwich shop. And we've always wanted to do a great wine bar, so we thought let's do them all!"
A sample menu has already been submitted to the Manhattan community board and includes sandwiches like lamb meatball, chicken and sage, and roasted pork tonnata, along with pastries, snacks, and a few cocktails.
