New York City's 5 Best Pie-Buying Places For Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and if there's one food that everybody saves some room in their stomach for as the meal draws to a close, it's pie. If you're looking for the best pies in New York City, here's where to find them:

Four and Twenty Blackbirds
This now-legendary pie shop is located in Brooklyn's Gowanus neighborhood, and the pies sold here by two South Dakota sisters are creative, delicious, and just about perfect. Fall offerings include their famous salted caramel apple, stone fruit crumble, salty honey, birch beer float, and chocolate julep.

Two Little Red Hens
This "American Bakery" located on the Upper East Side famously lets you design your own cake, but when it comes to pies we suggest you choose what they're offering. They stick with the classics and bake near-flawless versions of them, with fall flavors including apple, pumpkin, pecan, cherry crumb, and Fall Medley (with apples, pears, plums, raisins, cranberries, apricots, ginger, walnuts, and spices).

Pie Corps
The menu of sweet and savory pies changes daily at the Greenpoint gem, but if you give them some notice they'll craft a custom pie especially for you. Expect non-traditional creations like apple crumb with rosemary caramel, spices pumpkin crumb, and chocolate hazelnut with chocolate sea salt crust.

Little Pie Company
Since 1985, Little Pie Company has been baking some of the best pies you'll find anywhere, using only fresh and all-natural ingredients, in three varying sizes. Offerings include sour cream apple walnut, Southern pecan, Mississippi mud, and three-berry, and they also ship.

Buttermilk Bakeshop
This little bakery took Park Slope by storm when it opened earlier this year, and pastry chef Katie Rosenhouse's wide selection of baked goods, including croissants, brownies, cakes, cupcakes, macarons, and cookies, has developed a loyal following. Rosenhouse also offers a selection of pies, in varieties that change daily. So call ahead to see what's on offer, or order a custom pie in advance.
