New Restaurant Opening From elBulli Chefs
Three former chefs de cuisine of elBulli announced yesterday that they plan to open a casual restaurant in Cadaqués, Spain, by the end of this month. The chefs, Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch, and Mateu Casañas, named the restaurant Compartir, which means "share" in Spanish, and reflects the menu comprised of dishes designed to be enjoyed by the table.
Cadaqués is located on the Costa Brava, about 30 minutes away from the former elBulli space in Roses. The trio plans to offer a rotating menu of 35 to 40 dishes crafted with a more simplistic and much less formal approach than the cuisine they were known for creating at elBulli.
Casañas noted in a recent interview with Gastroeconomy that he and his partners are aiming to create food that is "easy to understand and unpretentious. Not a creative or classic bet."
The chefs will continue to work with Ferran Adrià on the development of the elBulli Foundation.
