New Brewery Opening In Kansas City
A new brewery is coming to Waldo in November, the Kansas City Star reports. Holle's Kansas City Bier Co. is taking a 10,000 square foot space and is scheduled to open in November.
Holle grew up in Kansas City but moved to Texas in the early 90's. He retired his job as a regional director at a real estate investment office and decided to move back to his hometown to open a brewery. In college, he majored in both business and German, both of which will be helpful in his new venture.
He became interested in beer while studying in Germany during college. He has been home-brewing for almost 30 years and has written two brewing books.
At Kansas City Bier Co. he is the executive officer and in charge of brewing operations and sale. His business partner, Juergen Hager, will be in charge of the tasting room. The partners have found other local investors to help get the brewery started.
The brewery will use ingredients imported from Germany. Once the brewery is established, they hope to make bottled beers for retail sale. There will be a beer garden on one side of the building, serving authentic German pretzels, sausages, and cheese plates.
