Merlot Is The Hot Color For Chef's Jackets

According to a fashion show at the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago, merlot is the hot color right now in the world of chef's coats. More and more chefs are ditching their classic white jackets for more vibrant hues, like blue, lime, and orange. 

Traditionally chefs have donned white uniforms in the kitchen, however with so many celebrity chefs wearing brightly colored coats on television and at events, the trend is starting to catch on in the kitchen as well.

Some companies are beginning to manufacture jackets in various shapes and cuts as well — coats with three-quarter sleeves are becoming particularly popular during the balmy summer months.
