Maison Boulud Montreal Opens
Maison Boulud, the latest outpost of French chef Daniel Boulud, has opened at the Ritz-Carlton Montreal.
The menu at Maison Boulud is seasonal and inspired by Boulud's French roots and his decades spent cooking in New York City. Lyonnaise charcuterie, Mediterranean flavors, and causal eats form the contemporary French menu that is overseen by Executive Chef Riccardo Bertolino.
The 130-seat restaurant that overlooks the Ritz-Carlton Montreal's glass enclosed garden has two private dining rooms along with a terrace, and a bar and lounge. Maison Boulud is decorated in walls of colorful glass, bold colored fabrics, and has a semi-open kitchen.
The a la carte menu features some of Boulud's signature dishes from his New York restaurants like crisp artichokes with aioli and ricotta de brebis with tapenade and tomato confit from Boulud Sud and iceberg and blue salad with crunchy walnuts and bacon and a burger with confit pork belly, arugula, and morbier on a peppered brioche bun from DBGB Kitchen & Bar.
The menu also features two-course and three-course set lunches for $28 and $35 and a four-course prix fixe dinner for $69.50 that can be paired with wine from the extensive 300 bottle wine list.
Dishes designed exclusively for Maison Boulud Montreal include filet et ris de veau saltimbocca with asparagus, pommes amandine, prosciutto and sage and halibut in a caper crust with fava beans and mint jus.
The opening of Maison Boulud is part of the Ritz-Carlton Montreal's recent reopening, which followed an extensive $200 million restoration. The iconic Montreal hotel, where Winston Churchill, George Bush, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton have bunked, underwent extensive renovations. The Ritz-Carlton Montreal's façade was restored, public spaces were renovated and the 98 guestrooms and 31 suites were redesigned.
Along with Maison Boulud in Beijing, Boulud's restaurant portfolio includes DANIEL, Bar Boulud, Epicerie Boulud, Café Boulud, db Bistro Moderne, and Bar Pleiades in New York, db Bistro Moderne in Miami and Singapore, Café Boulud in Palm Beach, and Bar Boulud in London. An additional Boulud venue is planned for Toronto.
