Maialino Late-Night Pizza Party
You might not think of acclaimed Roman-style trattoria Maialino as a late-night destination. Maybe that's why the restaurant, owned by Danny Meyer and run by Chef Nick Anderer has started offering nightly pizza specials to draw in the late-night crowd.
Beginning at 9 p.m. every night, the restaurant offers carbonara pizza — a slice of Sullivan Street Bakery's pizza bianca topped with pecorino, black pepper, house-made pancetta, and an egg yolk.
The slice is paired with an AMA Bionda, a golden beer "born of aromatic malts, three types of hops, Italian Orange Blossom honey from Sicily, and water from springs that date to Roman times" designed by Brooklyn brewmaster Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery in collaboration with Italian microbrewery Amarcord.
At only $12 for a slice and a beer, the cost of this special offers a little relief from the restaurant's usual upscale pricing.
And if grabbing a late-night slice of pizza isn't your scene, Maialino's has a Sunday night pasta tasting party featuring a five-course menu of seasonal pastas, which offers a good alternative dining option for the early-to-bed folk.
