Last-Minute Thanksgiving Plan: Staycation At Hotel Chandler

If you don't have plans for Thanksgiving yet, or you're just not tempted by the idea of hosting the meal at your house, there's good news. Though Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, many restaurants and hotels still offer Thanksgiving dinners and getaway packages for those looking to find an alternative solution to the traditional at-home turkey dinner.

In New York City, the boutique Hotel Chandler in the Flatiron District is offering a special Thanksgiving Day package, including a harvest-inspired Thanksgiving feast for two at the hotel's Juni restaurant. The special package will give guests a welcome bottle of wine upon arrival, and accommodations in the hotel's spacious Executive Suite rooms. The Thanksgiving package starts at a rate of $629 per night (two-night minimum), and also includes a $100 American Express gift card.

Listed among Zagat's "10 of New York's Sexiest New Restaurants," Hotel Chandler's newly opened restaurant Juni will be serving a modern and refined Thanksgiving Day dinner, which also is included in the special deal package. With strong attention to detail, Michelin-starred executive chef Shaun Hergatt has created his take on Thanksgiving with a four-course menu using the season's freshest ingredients. Besides the most classic entrée option — roast turkey with chestnut stuffing and Brussels sprouts — the items diners can choose from include dishes such as foie gras torchon with quince apricot relish and pistachio; slow-poached egg with sunchoke espuma and olive oil; and black bass with flourless gnocchi and truffle sabayon. For dessert diners can choose classic pie flavors, including pumpkin, or go with a more unusual dessert, such as the simply described "chocolate sweet potato," which is a play on Juni's regular fall-menu dessert, consisting of chocolate cake, sweet potato chips, bay leaves, and mint ice cream. The Thanksgiving Day dinner is also available for outside diners, at a price of $85.

Hotel Chandler is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and even after many renovations, the hotel has preserved several of the original details and fixings in the rooms, to keep with the timeless character of the 1905 Beaux-Arts building.

For those planning ahead, Hotel Chandler will also offer a Holiday Package, including two "VIP Admission" tickets to the Bryant Park skating rink, giving access to two skate rentals, bag check service, two hot chocolates, and two additional VIP non-skate tickets. For an after-skate dinner plan, the package will also include 10 percent off your total bill at the Celsius restaurant at Bryant Park.
