James Beard Foundation's 'Taste America' Stops In NYC This Fall
The legendary James Beard Foundation will hit the road this fall.
To showcase "local flavor from coast to coast," the Taste America tour will stop in 10 cities throughout the country from September 20 to October 19. It will visit New York the second to last week, October 11-12.
"The Taste America tour will shine a light on the dynamic culinary cities across the country," said Susan Ungaro, president of the James Beard Foundation. "Our Taste America chefs will be working with local farmers and artisanal producers of everything from cheese to chocolate."
Taste America will kickoff with an invite-only gourmet burger tasting at the James Beard house in Greenwich Village on June 12, starring Jacques Pépin as the honorary all-star chef. Rick Bayless, Richard Blais, Suzanne Goin, among others, will travel as all-star chefs as ambassadors for JBF.
There will also be benefit dinners with JBF award-winning chefs, in-store events at Sur La Table with celebrity chef appearances, cooking demos, book signings, and tastings from local producers and artisans.
The five weekend, ten city tour will feature different all-star chefs and food celebrities at each city. In addition to New York, the tour stops in Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and more. Tickets can be purchased online beginning July 8.
