Hold The Phone, There's A TV Show Based On America's Best Craft Brewery?
Well, we'll get our DVRs ready for the day this happens: According to Delaware Online and the AV Club, Dogfish Head may be getting the sitcom treatment from some very cool celebrities and FOX.
Delaware Online shares that the man behind the project is Ken Marino, from the shows Party Down and The State. Marino, who's a friend of brewmaster Sam Calagione (they roomed together at New York University), would also star in the show he's creating with his wife, Erica Oyama. While the show is still in the beginning stages of development, it would be based off Calagione's 2011 book, Brewing Up a Business. Deadline reports, "According to the producers, this is a show about a couple who are working on their American dream, a couple who support each other, inspire each other, are madly in love, drive each other crazy, build a company from the ground up, and blend their employees and children into one big happy family." Cue the awww's.
Of course, it's not going to be all about Dogfish Head or even Calagione; Calagione told Delaware Online he's not even sure it'll be based in Delaware. Unlike his first shot at TV stardom, with the ultimately failed Discovery show Brew Masters, the show on FOX will be a fictional telling of Dogfish Head's rise to the top. Still, coming off the waves of the film Drinking Buddies, we're most definitely on board with all these craft beer viewing parties.
