Godiva And Duff Goldman Make Cake Truffles
Chocolate and cake — does it really get any better than that? We think not, and Food Network's Ace of Cakes star baker Duff Goldman agrees.
In the first collaboration of its kind, Godiva chocolatier and executive chef Thierry Muret came together with Goldman, a serious cake man, to create a collection of cake truffles — the best of both worlds, if you ask us.
Goldman is known for his "cake art" at Charm City Cakes, and Godiva is renowned for its decadent chocolate creations, so their partnership is a match made in (dessert) heaven.
Each truffle in the four-piece collection was designed with such thought and precision that it's hard to not be flooded with flavor memories when you bite into one.
The four truffles include:
Birthday Cake Truffle: This one is filled with vanilla cake mousse in a white chocolate shell and is sprinkled with white pearl nonpareils — just try fighting the childhood birthday party images: party hats, colorful candles, streamers, and of course pin the tail on the donkey.
"Everyone is going to want to play pin the tail on the donkey after a bite out of this truffle," Goldman said.
Cookie Dough Truffle: Cookie dough ganache in a milk chocolate shell, topped with dark chocolate chips.
This truffle capitalizes on everyone's love for the raw, but oh-so-good, dough — the chocolate chips on top are meant to mirror the idea of chunks in the raw cookie dough.
Pineapple Hummingbird Truffle: Pineapple and banana ganache with pecan cream cheese frosting in a white chocolate shell.
"If you let the flavors just sit in your mouth, they come full circle, starting with banana and going to each note," Goldman said.
Butterscotch Walnut Truffle: Butterscotch, caramel, and maple-walnut cream in a milk chocolate shell, dusted with molasses.
We think this one speaks for itself.
These cake truffles are perfect for holiday gifts and make even better favors — they're worth every bite.
