Food & Fashion: Alice + Olivia Meets Magnum Ice Cream
Whoever said fashion and food weren't pals was seriously mistaken.
Behold, the ultimate chic-meets-eats mash-up: an actual collection inspired by food. Alice + Olivia debuted their Spring/Summer 2013 ready-to-wear collection Sept. 10 and among their '50s-inspired garb there were two pieces that stood out from the rest.
Two looks from their upcoming season are inspired by Magnum ice cream — resulting in chocolate silk paired with gold fringe and specked with sequins.
Yes, you heard correctly. The limited-edition pieces, Magnum mini-skirts named "classic" and "almond," are designed by Stacey Bendet, who drew her inspiration from the new Magnum mini ice cream bars. Both miniskirts will retail for $396 and will be available in all Alice + Olivia stores as well as online at aliceandolivia.com starting next week.
The "classic" mini skirt is made with a silk and lace base with sequin and bead embellishment, and the "almond" is made with a power mesh base with sequin and chain embellishment.
One thing we're not happy about is that they don't taste like Magnum ice cream bars. Maybe next time.
