Five Ways To Add Spunk To Your S'mores
Oh, sweet summer nights. A perfect time for gathering around the fire with good friends...and also a perfect time to chow down on the perfect combination of chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker. Honestly, is there a more heavenly combo? We already know that people (or sane people, anyway) adore s'mores, so why not mix it up a bit and add some sweet creativity next time you gather around the fire pit? Here are five ideas for how you can a s'more fun to your s'mores:
1. Flavor your marshmallows: whether you pick some up at your local market or make them at home, throwing in a flavored marshmallow, such as raspberry, chocolate (you can never have too much chocolate, right?), or caramel, adds a sweet surprise no one can resist.
2. Swap out your basic Hershey's: why not throw in another flavor or texture instead? A cookie's and cream bar, an almond-filled bar, peanut butter- the opportunities are endless.
3. Serve your s'mores in jars: free of a potential mess and tentative effort of slaving over the fire pit, make s'more jars ahead of time and just serve them to your guests with spoons.
4. Create bite-sized finger food s'mores: consider dipping marshmallow in melted chocolate and graham cracker crumbs, and simply serve them to your guests on toothpicks. A light one-bite snack will prevent a mess and keep things less heavy for a hot summer night.
5. Who needs a graham cracker? Swap out your usual graham crackers with your favorite homemade or store-bought cookies. More flavor, more texture, and more of a "rustic" touch to your party.
