Five Guys Rumored To Be Planning Paris Expansion
Five Guys could well be the latest American burger chain to cross the pond, because rumor has it the chain is hiring employees for its first outpost in Paris.
According to The Local, the rumor began when someone spotted an ad on French career website Apec saying that Five Guys was looking for a "passionate restaurant manager" who was someone "positive and flexible for the launch of their first restaurant in France."
Five Guys already has more than 1,000 restaurants in the U.S., and it has several outposts in the U.K. already serving its signature, customizable burgers, fries, and milkshakes.
Paris does seem like a sensible place for a burger chain like Five Guys to expand, as The Local reports that the burger market in France has been growing rapidly in recent years. A recent study reportedly says that nearly half of all sandwiches sold in France in 2013 was a burger, whereas in 2000 burgers accounted for more like one out of every nine sandwiches sold in France.
